Atlantic Hurricane Season Ends with 14 Named Storms

MIAMI (AP) — An Atlantic hurricane season that had 14 named storms officially ended on Wednesday, leaving residents in the Florida Keys to celebrate even as others around Florida and Puerto Rico continue to grapple with the damage caused by Hurricanes Ian, Nicole and Fiona.

Munich Re reported that hurricanes caused $65 billion in insured losses during the season, not counting losses to the National Flood Insurance Program. Total economic damages amounted to $110 billion, according to the report. Most of that is attributed to Hurricane Ian, which crossed the Florida peninsula in September
