Canopius Group (London), an international specialty and property/casualty (re)insurer, has announced that Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (SMFI, Seoul) has agreed to acquire an additional 21 percent equity stake in the Group, increasing its total shareholding to 40 percent.

The stake is being acquired from existing shareholder Fidentia Fortuna Holdings, which is led by U.S.-based private equity firm Centerbridge Partners. This transaction marks SFMI’s third investment in Canopius, following prior investments
